The Ruddy Shelduck (Tadorna ferruginea)

The Ruddy Shelduck is a half goose of the genus Tadorna. Its original habitats are around the Black Sea, the Caspian Sea, South, Central and East Asia. There are also populations in the Ethiopian Highlands and in Northwest Afrika.

The Ruddy Shelduck managed to expand its breeding range to Belgium, The Nehterlands and Southern and Northwest Germany where it can be found in on open locations, lakes, reservoirs and rivers. However it must be added that the initial expansion in Central Europe was down to escaped birds that managed to establish a wild population.
