Great Tit (Parus major)

 

 

 

The Great Tit is a small, lively songbird of the tits family and as a breeding bird in most common to Europe. The Great Tit is the largest of all tits and can easily be identified by its black crown, nape and chin, its prominent yellow underparts and the black central band reaching from the chin down to the belly. There are big white patches below the eyes. The bill is black, short and pointed.

 

The Great Tit can be found in various areas such as woodland, parks, green yards, gardens. One can say that great tits are endemic to gardens where they are close to humans. Also they like to visit bird feedings / bird tables all year. Especially in gardens and at bird tables we have ample opportunity to watch these little fellows.
